Dear Friends,

Welcome to the WEB site of the Saint Sava Society, the oldest active Serbian society.

We have celebrated 120 years of our existence and activity in the year 2006.

Our aim is to propagate enlightenment and culture, nourishing at the same time national virtues and values of the St. Sava cult and tradition among Serbs wherever they are.

Our tasks involve publication of books dedicated to the Serbian tradition and spirituality, publication of the yearly "Bratstvo" (Brotherhood), cooperation with Serbian schools and churches, as well as organization of the traditional literature open competition for students of primary and secondary schools and establishing the Society's subcommittees in Serbia and the Serbian Diaspora.

Our ambition is to regain possibilities to create a new Foundation of scholarships for young Serbs living out of Serbia and therefore creating an opportunity for them to learn more about their mother tongue and culture.

Our hope is to restore our ownership of real estate nationalized by the former communist regime which will open opportunities for us to fulfill our mission defined in the nineteenth century.

We are a secular Institution, a group of intellectuals of different professions, volunteering in the Society with the pleasure of serving our people. Names of the members of the Main and Executive Board can be found on this site.

We invite you, wherever you are, to help us in our endeavor by becoming a Member of the Saint Sava Society, buying our books, giving donations or aiding the Society in any other way and therefore helping the Serbian Community, especially the young people in Serbia and abroad.

At first we were confused. The East thought that we were West, while the West considered us to be East. Some of us misunderstood our place in the clash of currents, so they cried that we belong to neither side, and others that we belong exlusively to one side or the other. But I tell you, Ireneus, we are doomed by fate to be the East in the West and the West in the East, to acknowledge only heavenly Jerusalem beyond us, and here on earth--no one".                                                                                                                                                                                            - St. Sava to Ireneus, 13th century

Note: We have in our English pages only the most important information about our activity and our background. The rest is presented only in Serbian. Should you feel that some information of your interest is not available, please write us and we will try to provide you at least with its summary.

Thank you for your understanding.
